Childcare participants have a chance to earn money for college

ATLANTE, July 7, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Georgian families with daycare-age children (born on or after January 1, 2009) have the opportunity to earn money for college through the Path2College 529 plan and the Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) We Care Child Care Contest. The competition will reward four children a $1,529 contribution to university savings.

“We have awarded more than $83,000 to children and nurseries and/or schools through our DECAL partnership competition. Over the past eight years, we’ve helped many kids save for their education and we’ve helped their daycares as well,” said the chair of the Georgia Student Finance Commission. Lynne Riley. “Equally important, we have connected with thousands of Georgia families and shared resources and information to help them plan for the future of their children and grandchildren.

One winner will be drawn from each of the four regions of the Georgia – Metro Atlanta, Southeast, North and South Georgia. The child must participate in a DECAL licensed program. Each winner’s childcare program will also be awarded $1,529.

Parents and grandparents can enter at www.path2college529.com/wecare. The deadline to participate is July 31, 2022.

“Again this year, DECAL is honored to support the Georgia Student Finance Commission’s We Care, Child Care competition to highlight georgia Plan Path2College 529,” Commissioner DECAL said Amy M. Jacobs. “The Path2College 529 Plan helps families save money for their child’s post-secondary education.
