Kerala Launches Medical Insurance for Government Employees, Pensioners, Kerala MEDISEP

Thiruvananthapuram: Government employees, pensioners and their dependents in Kerala are now all set to enjoy comprehensive medical insurance plan coverage for a nominal monthly premium of Rs 500, thanks to MEDISEP, the new scheme launched for state government staff and retirees.

The Pinarayi Vijayan government has issued orders allowing the long-awaited cashless medical assistance to be implemented through Oriental Insurance Company Ltd from July 1.

According to the order, issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Rajesh Kumar Singh, in addition to government employees, retirees/family retirees and their eligible family members, employees and retirees of public universities and personal staff directly recruited from the Chief Minister, Leader of the Opposition, Chief Whip, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, etc. can also benefit from the health insurance scheme for state employees and pensioners (MEDISEP).

The scheme is expected to benefit more than five lakh government employees and almost the same number of pensioners and their dependents in the state.
