Local businesses can join the chamber’s health insurance scheme

The Salina Area Chamber of Commerce today announced a new partnership that will allow employers to come together to purchase health insurance.

The Chamber Blue of Kansas Health Plan is the result of a partnership between the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, and Kansas Chamber of Commerce executives. Thirty other local Kansas Chambers of Commerce are participating.

“The larger pool of people enrolled in the plan provides opportunities for more plan options, and potentially, at lower cost,” Chamber Salina noted in a press release this afternoon.

“The Salina chamber and all chambers involved in this partnership realize and recognize that recruiting and retaining talent is vital for businesses and industry of all sizes, especially small businesses. Access to Reliable health insurance is a crucial part of that success. According to SBA statistics, small businesses make up more than 99.1% of all businesses in Kansas,” the Salina Chamber continued.

To participate, local employers must have at least two employees and be current and paying members of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce.

Participants will receive the following, according to information from the Salina Chamber.

● A dedicated account management team with personalized support

● More choice in plan options

●Rate stability with a larger pool of participants

● A uniform rate for the group based on the average risk rather than the rating of each member individually

● Dental, life, disability and accessory coverage offers will be available to complete your benefit package

Three information sessions will be available on March 11 for business owners, nonprofits and interested organizations. The meeting times are as follows.

Noon-1 p.m.

4-5 p.m.

Sessions will be held in the Visit Salina Annex, 120 W. Ash Street.

“The partnership will continue to hold information sessions and answer questions with the aim of all interested organizations completing a survey of interest in August 2022. Initial rates will be determined in September 2022 based on groups/companies who have responded to the survey and plans will become effective January 1, 2023,” Chamber Salina noted.
