A local nonprofit believes that an undeveloped tract of land along Lake Arlington could be key to revitalizing part of eastern Fort Worth.

It is an eight acre site just off the 6000 block of Wilbarger Street. This is called the Living Waters Park. If you visit the site there isn’t much yet, but students at UT Arlington have created a master plan for the land that includes space for a marina, amphitheater, yacht club, and facilities. educational for children.

Living Waters is raising funds to transform the space into an educational and entertainment attraction with the potential to attract more investment in the community.

“This is an underserved group in the region, we need to change that. It can be the catalyst for the development of the entire east side of Fort Worth. Because once one entity comes here, others will come, ”said Martha Dent, Living Waters Advisory Board Member.

The project is estimated at around $ 8 million. Living Waters is partnering with several businesses, local governments and environmentalists to develop the park. The leaders have received and are working to secure grants.

On Friday, the association is organizing a Luau fundraiser. The mayor of Arlington and several other community leaders are expected to attend. You can read more about the fundraising project and event here.
